Sustainable Harvest
Defined By Nature

The Iconic Scottish Deer
Scotland’s red and roe deer have been part of our landscapes since the last Ice Age. They help shape habitats and enrich biodiversity — but the challenge today is their numbers. Deer populations have more than doubled since 1990, with over a million now across the country.
Without natural predators, deer are putting huge pressure on woodlands, farmland, and climate projects. Overcrowding also harms the animals themselves, leading to starvation in harsh winters and rising road accidents.
Humane, evidence-based culling is the most practical way to restore balance. Managed properly, it also creates opportunities: venison is a healthy, sustainable food that should be valued as part of Scotland’s food culture.
The Scottish Government is updating deer legislation, and Norsemen Scotland is proud to play its part in delivering responsible management for healthier ecosystems — and healthier deer.

Our Mission
Our aim is to promote the sustainable management of deer populations in Perthshire by providing evidence-based, customised action plans for landowners. We are dedicated to reducing agricultural and woodland damage through responsible, safe, ethical, and humane culling methods, thereby supporting biodiversity, landscape resilience, and long-term rural sustainability.
Our Services

DEER CONTROL
Uncontrolled deer populations can put increasing pressure on vegetation, young trees, and woodlands, leading to long-term damage and reduced biodiversity. We work with landowners to provide practical, effective options for short-term deer control and professional culling, helping to protect landscapes while supporting responsible wildlife management.

DEER MANAGEMENT
All medium to large landholdings benefit from having a structured 3–5 year deer management plan, supported by annual action plans with clear objectives and progress reporting. We work with estates and farms to design tailored strategic plans and provide hands-on support with implementation, ensuring effective, long-term deer management.

Stalking opportunities for local Deer Stalkers
The Perthshire Deer Stalking Partnership brings together local communities, landowners, and stakeholders to manage deer populations responsibly. Our aim is to balance environmental health, rural livelihoods, and cultural traditions, ensuring deer are valued and managed as part of a thriving Perthshire landscape.
How We Deliver This
We will establish a community-focused syndicate-style membership group for local deer stalkers, providing structured opportunities to participate in responsible stalking. By working in agreement with farms and landowners to secure access to hunting grounds, we will ensure management is practical, fair, and beneficial to both people and the environment.

The venison we harvest is a premium source of protein – healthy, delicious, and versatile. Our goal is to inspire more people to enjoy cooking with venison and game by sharing simple, flavourful recipes and highlighting venison as a sustainable, natural meat choice.
